Product Review: Bubble Skincare

Written by: Kaylee Franklin

I admit…I’m pretty skeptical when it comes to trying out new skincare. As a person who has been going to the dermatologist since the age of 13 for severe acne, I am very careful and critical when it comes to choosing products to add to my skincare routine, which is why I was hesitant when Bubble was starting to blow up on my social media pages.

For those who don’t know what Bubble is, it's the first skincare brand created for young skin that is science-driven, non-toxic, and plant-based. Launched in November 2020, Bubble is on a mission to “help you deal with the small stuff so you can put your best face forward.”

The first time I recall seeing or hearing of Bubble was on social media. If I remember correctly, it was a targeted ad on Instagram. The faces of the actors from Netflix’s infamous show,  Outer Banks, were promoting the products, and as an Outer Banks fan, I was intrigued.

I clicked the ad and was directed to Bubble’s Instagram. The packaging looked vibrant, simple, and to the point. Something that I feel is hard to achieve when it comes to skincare products. I continued looking at the page and saw that they were relatively new (this was around January 2021, so about 3 months after they launched.)

I’m not a person that buys from ads, especially skincare products, so I exited the page and didn’t think twice about it. But as the brand continued to grow, I started seeing them everywhere. More ads, my short trips to Walmart, and on my TikTok For You Page, with people like me raving about the products.

I was still really hesitant about trying the products as I never looked at the prices, and I was skeptical about putting anything new on my face when I had finally nailed down my skincare after eight years of dermatology appointments.

When I found out we were going to have Shai Eisenman, the Founder and CEO of Bubble on the show, I decided I would listen to the interview and decide from there. Well, Episode 92: Facing the Skincare Aisle launched a few weeks ago and I’ve been in love with the brand (and the products) ever since.

In my many years of trying a vast array of skincare products, I jumped around from cleanser to cleanser and could never find one that either:

  • Didn’t give me an allergic reaction. *cough cough you grapefruit scented everyday name-brand cleanser*
  • Left my skin feeling dry and itchy (another name-brand product)
  • Make my skin an oily mess (way too many products left it this way, sadly)

After listening to the episode, I was excited to have learned more about the brand, and that they created a step-by-step product line. I was pleased to learn that Bubble created a seamless plan to help everyone. With a small line of seven products and more to come, they’ve created a full set of a skincare routine at a very reasonable price!

After learning more about the products, I checked out their website and their Skin School tab, where they allow you to start by taking a short quiz to find out your skin type, to learn all about skincare routines, ingredients, acne, buzz words, skincare myths and more! They also had a section on their website where you can learn everything you need to know about Bubble!

It is safe to say that I was sold. But I wanted to see it in person again to fully decide. So, I headed to my closest Walmart and saw their display. Their display is set up in sections,

  • Cleanser, where they display their makeup remover and gel cleanser
  • Toners, displaying their two different toner options
  • Moisturizers, where they have their balancing and hydrating moisturizers
  • Their detoxifying clay mask

Having it laid out in the steps of the skincare routine was so helpful, and I imagine it’s incredibly beneficial for people who are brand new to their skincare journey and have never heard of Bubble.

The products I got were the Wipe Out Makeup Remover, Gel Cleanser, Balancing Toner, Balancing Moisturizer, and the Detoxifying Clay Mask. I was thinking the Balancing Toner and moisturizer would help even out my skin tone and acne scars.

I was pleasantly surprised with the Gel Cleanser and the Balancing Moisturizer as the cleanser didn’t leave my face feeling dry or oily like other cleansers had done in the past, and the moisturizer didn’t leave my face feeling like a layer of cream was just sitting there. These two products are definitely winners in my book!

I was really excited to try out the toner since I never had before, and I knew it would be the next step to upping my skincare game. During my trial run, I cleansed my face with the gel cleanser and let my face air dry, applied my toner with an environmentally friendly makeup cloth, and let it sit before applying my moisturizer. I didn't notice much of a change at first with the toner, but over time I’ve noticed my skin start to even out and the redness and acne scars start to smooth and diminish. This is a product I will definitely be adding to my everyday skincare routine!

Now for the two products, I’m still iffy on:

The Wipe Out Makeup remover- I think this is a genius product. I never liked using the everyday makeup remover wipes as they left my skin dry and irritated. I thought I would love this product, but I feel like it doesn't get the whole job done, forcing me to use a lot of product. I don’t hate the product, cause I still use it on days with very minimal makeup, I just don’t reach for this product every time.

Detoxifying Clay Mask- Again, another genius product. This clay mask is unlike any other I’ve used before. I haven’t noticed anything super great about this product, but I also haven’t noticed anything horrible. I feel pretty indifferent about it. I’ll definitely continue to use it, but I’m just not a huge face mask person.

I’ve been using the products for three months now, and I can definitely say it will not be the last. I’m a huge fan of the cleanser, toner, and moisturizer! Plus, they have incredible packaging and an amazing story with every product having clean ingredients. What more could you want from a skincare brand!?
